September 6, 2018

Four new coaches, Juan Orozco, Gary Recoder, Eric Garcia, and Eric Gonzalez, have been added to the 2018 football team.

Coach Juan Orozco, in addition to coaching baseball, will also coach football this year.

“Sports are sports, competitions are competitions, but there are just different ways to compete,” coach Orozco said. “All in all football is going well and I am very excited for the upcoming season.”

The Coronado football team welcomes Gary Recoder as a new coach this year. Coach Recoder is the new offensive coordinator for the team, and he is very excited to see what his players bring to the field on Friday.

“Football is going really well and it’s really easy when you have a great group of kids to work with,” coach Gary Recoder said.  “We are very excited about the game this Friday.”

Coach Eric Gonzalez has taken over for former coach Luis Camacho after he moved to Midland during the summer. As the new defensive line coach, Gonzalez is hoping for a great season.

“I am super excited for this season,” coach Eric Gonzalez said. “We have a great group of guys to work with and it makes it so much fun.”

His partner, Eric Garcia, is the the new defensive backs coach. Garcia has been working his players throughout the summer, organizing conditionings and early practices to get the defensive backs ready for their first game this Friday.

The new coaches will put their skills to the test when the football team plays the El Dorado Aztecs on Thursday, September 6th.
