Creative writing: poem #1

Welcome to our creative writing section! Here you will find poems, short stories, novels, and more written by students here at Coronado.

Death

You are commonly viewed with fright

And thought to extinguish all remaining light

You lurk in the depths of consciousness

Causing people to think more and live less

But who’s to say your embrace brings only void

And an end to all things that were once enjoyed

Perhaps despite the clouds that shroud you

You paint the sky in a delicate blue and white hue

To me, your daunting task brings opportunity

You allow us to reach an unattainable kind of unity

You repair lives, and hearts, and other broken things

You offer release from the puppeteers who pull my strings
