Burrow hopes to end his historic season with a title

January 6, 2020

The world of college football has been all about one player this year, Joe Burrow. Burrow is the quarterback for Louisiana State University (LSU) and has taken the nation by storm this year and has proven to be unstoppable. Burrow, the 2019 Heisman trophy winner, has led the LSU Tigers to a 14-0 record and a spot in the National Championship come Monday, Jan. 13th.

Burrow’s domination has not always been there, but in his senior season, he has turned it up a notch and shown not only the nation what he is capable of but coaches at the next level. The quarterback was a four star recruit out of Athens High School in Ohio. After graduating, he signed with Ohio State University and began his college career there, where he would spend most of his time as the backup. He only played in 10 games through two seasons, racking up only 287 yards. After two seasons with the Buckeyes, Burrow would transfer to LSU to play under coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers’ staff. This decision would pay off in a huge way.

During his first season in Baton Rouge, the junior quarterback would have an average year leading the team to a 10-3 record and a berth into a New Year’s Bowl. Burrow racked up 2,894 passing yards and 16 touchdowns and was thought of as an average SEC quarterback. The 2019 season was a different story for the senior quarterback. Burrow threw 5,208 yards to go alongside his 55 touchdowns. Burrow’s 2019 season was pure domination; there is no other way to put it. As a football fan myself, the quarterback was fun to watch in all aspects of the game.

Burrow will have his final test Jan. 13, when he takes on the Clemson Tigers for the National Championship. Whether Burrow wins or loses this title game, his historic season will not be overlooked in the future. There is no doubt Burrow will be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the draft this coming April, possibly even the first overall pick.
