Letter from the Editor In Chief

Starting August 1st, 2022, I will be the editor-in-chief of this newspaper. It is a position I am honored to hold, and one that I honestly never expected I would. I have been blessed to spend three of the four short years of high school as a staff member on this newspaper, and even more blessed to have been promoted each of those years. I have been looking forward to this year of newspaper all summer, and I hope you will look forward to each issue.

Student Journalism was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic two years ago. Since then, our paper has not put out a physical issue. That is something that I fully intend to change. I will do everything that I can to ensure at least two issues are released this year, one in the fall semester and one in the spring. Rest assured, we will be working hard from day one to produce these issues and make sure they are of the highest possible quality.

I want to revitalize our newspaper and make it something that I, my staff, and everyone at this school can be proud of. We are the pride of the west side, and that should extend to our journalism department as well. There are several challenges to overcome, but I have faith in my staff to see it through and make this year a return to form for the newspaper.

If you have any interest in joining the newspaper, please do. It will take up a class period, but if there is one thing that will be necessary to accomplish our goals this year it is passionate writers. If you are interested in writing but cannot sacrifice a class period for any reason, we would gladly accept you as a guest contributor, and I assure you that the editing staff will provide feedback the same as we would any full-time staff member.

I hope you are looking forward to this year of newspaper as much as I am. I sincerely want to provide this school with the best paper possible, something people actively look forward to reading. This paper can only be successful with the help of the staff and student body, so thank you all in advance for your support.
