First Fa-la-la-la-days to spread holiday cheer
The holiday season is many students’ favorite time of the year, no matter what they do or do not celebrate. It is filled with twinkling lights, warm clothes, lots of music, classic foods, as well as family and friends. To help bring this happy time to our school, the student council officers have decided to implement the first annual Fa-la-la-la-days, from Dec. 9-13. This will be a whole week filled with spirit days to get the students in the holiday spirit before finals and winter break.
To kick off the week, the Monday spirit day was wear your holiday colors day. Students wore their holiday colors, such as the classic red & green for Christmas, blue & silver for Hanukkah, or any other colors associated with the holiday season. Tuesday was tree topper day, where students wore any holiday headwear. Students and staff chose to wear items like Santa hats, antlers, halos, elf ears, lights, stars or anything else they felt represented the star on top of a Christmas tree. Today is Christmas character day, where students can dress up as their favorite holiday characters. The student council is hoping to see everyone get creative.
“I am hoping to see people dress up as characters from Christmas movies,” vice president Tioluwa Akinjaiyeju said. “It would be funny to see someone dress up as Buddy the elf; the Grinch, who brings a little bit of naughty to Christmas; Santa, who represents our childhood; or even Christmas presents.”
Thursday is pajama day, which is a school-wide favorite. Students can come in their holiday pajamas and be comfortable all day as long as they are still following dress code. The last spirit day on Friday is ugly sweater day, as well as hot chocolate day. If students bring their own reusable mug to C-9, they will receive free hot chocolate.
The first annual Fa-la-la-la-days goal is to bring holiday spirit to the campus. Students and teachers are overwhelmed with the end of the semester and finals approaching, so this week is aimed to help them relax amidst all of the chaos by replacing it with some festive smiles.
