The new year marks a new start
The new year, the beginning of a new decade, and the time where people make resolutions and start anew. Every new year, the majority of people make goals they wish to achieve and promises that they vow to keep. Whether they are promises to become healthier, break a bad habit, or to simply try something new, the beginning of a new year is an excuse to better oneself. While I agree with this time being a open door to changes, I also believe that people should try to improve themselves year-round.
The majority of new year resolutions are kept through January, but soon fall to bad and old habits in a couple months. Is this due to lack of motivation? Or simply forgetfulness? We need to take initiative to continue to improve ourselves and not to simply become satisfied. Everyone always has room for growth, physically, spiritually, or mentally.
We are faced with the difficult task of making resolutions when need be, and not just on Jan. 1. We are challenged with patience and hard work to be faithful to our goals. But most importantly, we must be motivated and encouraged.
Once one stops improving themselves and stops growing, they have given up in their future and success. This new year, a resolution we must all make is to never stop trying and improving. For new, better, and exciting things only come with hard work and change.
