Ginny & Georgia Review
“Ginny and Georgia” on Netflix is an absolute must-watch for fans of coming-of-age dramas and mother-daughter shows. The series is a refreshing and unique take on the genre, with a dynamic and relatable main character, Ginny Miller, who Antonia Gentry brilliantly portrays. The show takes on some serious and heavy themes but also has a great sense of humor, making it a roller coaster of emotions.
One of the strongest aspects of the show is the dynamic between Ginny and Georgia. Ginny is a typical teenager, struggling to fit in at her new school and navigate the complexities of adolescence. Her mother, Georgia, is a complex and flawed character who is trying to provide for her family while also dealing with her own personal demons. The relationship between the two is at times contentious, but also deeply loving.
The show also tackles several important themes, including mental health, mother-daughter relationships, love, and the search for identity. It is not afraid to delve into darker and more serious subjects, but also has plenty of comedic moments to balance things out.
The show’s writing is intelligent and engaging, with plenty of clever twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The continuous flashbacks cleared up some questions concerning the plots that were left unanswered last season.
The only downside of the show might be its pacing, as some may find the storytelling to be slow.
Overall, “Ginny and Georgia” is a well-written, well-acted, and emotionally engaging show that is definitely worth watching. Its relatable characters will captivate you as well as their off-screen friendship. It has been critically acclaimed and praised for its authentic portrayal of family and growing up. Season 2 has led to an increased viewership for season 1, meaning great news for fans, since there will most likely soon be a third season in the works.
