Meet the T-Bird Night to be held August 7th

This year, Coronado is adding a new “Meet the T-Bird Night”. On August 7,
incoming freshman will be able to come to the campus for an introduction night, also
called Fish Camp. Student Council officers will plan and host the event.
Different clubs will set up information tables; campus tours and schedule walks
will be available along with icebreaker activities. Club tables will allow freshman to
receive information on multiple clubs and will be able to sign up for reminders and club
alerts.
Tours will be held to familiarize the underclassmen to the campus and the vital
information. This is also an important opportunity for the students to figure out their
classroom location and ease freshman jitters.
Lastly, small activities and games will be held to help incoming students to create
relationships and bonds. These fun activities result in newly made friendships between
classmates and the upperclassmen working the event.
In addition, this is the first year where there will be no separate freshman
lunchtime. Upper and lower classmen will have the same lunchtime and lunch
restrictions. This new open campus for all students does draw controversy. Some people
think of being able to go off campus for lunch rather than being limited to a closed
campus as a right of passage. However, others support the new schedule.
Overall, Coronado is taking new strides to further empower and reach out to the
incoming freshmen. By offering Meet the T-Bird night, newly added Fish Camp and a
generous support system, Coronado is accomplishing new strides in community and
student outreach.
