Films and Streaming to Keep an Eye Out for This Spring
Due to the global pandemic, the past couple of years have been unusual for many, including the movie and TV industry. They took a huge hit when it came to producing high-scale films and series, and the circumstances resulted in less than favorable conditions to release new arrivals. However, much of that will change with the up-coming spring season.
Whether you prefer to stay at home or go to the movie theatre, there will be options for everyone. 2023 has in store a multitude of incredible movies and TV shows that all of us can look forward to.
If you’re interested in a classic rom com, look out for ‘Your Place or Mine’ which was released on Netflix, February 10th. Featuring the iconic Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, this movie will follow these characters as they play lifelong best friends who swap houses for a week.
For those that can’t wait to see what comes next in the future of Marvel’s cinematic universe, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ was released on February 17th. It came out in movie theaters and after a couple of months it will be streaming on Disney+ with a subscription. In ‘Quantumania,’ Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, more commonly known as Ant-Man and the Wasp and get trapped into a world known as the Quantum realm.
For those that are fans of sports and comedy, the movie ‘Champions’ has what you’re looking for. It will be released in theaters on March 24th and will follow an NBA coach played by Woody Harrelson who gets fired, and then arrested. His community service comes unexpected when it involves coaching a team of developmentally disabled adults.
If you’re looking for something to get your adrenaline going, look out for ‘The Mother’ which will be streaming on Netflix and will be released in May. In this soon to be hit movie, Jennifer Lopez stars as an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she left behind.
While some love to live an entire story in just a couple hours, others crave watching a snippet of the story every week. 2023 also has in store some incredible TV shows that will add a little light to your weekly routine.
What might be one of the most anticipated shows of the year, ‘Daisy Jones and the Six,’ will finally be released on March 3rd on Prime Video. For those that were fans of the iconic book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, they are guaranteed to be entertained by this film adaptation. It is set to follow history about a seventies rock band, inspired by Fleetwood Mac, starring Riley Keough and Sam Claflin.
Music and movie fans will especially be in for a special treat. For those that are huge fans of The Weeknd, he is also now set to be on a brand-new TV show. ‘The Idol’ which will premiere on HBO sometime this year, was co-created by Abel Tesfaye himself along with Euphoria producers Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim. Tesfaye will star as a nightclub impresario who gets involved in the life of a singer as she attempts to come back from a nervous breakdown.
With all these new releases, there is also several veteran series coming back for renewal. One of these iconic shows that will be coming back with another season is ‘Succession.’ It will be released sometimes this year and can be watched with an HBO MAX subscription. ‘Succession’ went without new releases for all of 2022, and it will finally satisfy Roy Family fans with new episodes. With season three leaving off on a cliffhanger, season four is sure to come with new adventures.
‘Succession” is not the only veteran series that is coming back. It is no surprise that ‘The Walking Dead’ has a huge fanbase, and these fans will get another taste of their favorite TV characters with a new spin-off. ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ will be released in April and is set to be premiered on AMC. The six-episode limited first season will follow Maggie and Negan, two of the most iconic characters with an interesting dynamic in this hit series. who will attempt to navigate a post-apocalyptic New York City as they resume their search around the world to see what lies outside the walls of Alexandria.
