Player Spotlight: Ella Morgades

Junior girls soccer player Ella Morgades has been building her athletic resumé on the girls varsity soccer team since freshman year. Her years of experience have earned her a starting spot both as a T-Bird, and on the Locomotives FC girls soccer club, but her achievements don’t end on the field.

Morgades is involved in various clubs and societies on campus. Junior exec, student council, and National Honor Society (NHS) to name a few. Morgades is active in these clubs while also maintaining a 4.0 GPA and excelling in advanced classes.

“Sometimes it can be difficult when I travel for soccer, but otherwise it’s not difficult, you just have to manage your time,”  Morgades said.

Morgades has had the opportunity to travel and play soccer all around the world, earning invitations to camps and tournaments in Greece and Italy. Her talent also earned her a spot on the New Mexico Olympic Development team in 2019. Morgades’s international experience is evident as she has collected countless goals in her high school career.

“Season is going well,” Morgades said.  “Hopefully, we will finish top four in district and earn a spot in the playoffs.”

The girls soccer team will be traveling to Dallas, Texas to play in a preseason showcase in order to prepare for the district season.

Morgades plans to continue her athletic career in college and is, “excited for what the future holds”.

The Lady Thunderbirds have started off their season 1-0, collecting a win against Hanks.
