Champion’s Closet is a place on campus that helps students when they need extra support. Offering students the opportunity to refresh their wardrobe at no charge or even get needed food items.
When talking about the benefits of Champions Closet is, graduation coach, Ms. Gema Del Campo explained how it benefits Coronado students.
“Champion’s Closet is a place where students, families, and people from the community can get a helping hand,” Del Campo said. “Students find “lightly used clothes and shoes, food items, hygiene products, furniture, and school supplies.”
The goal of Champion’s Closet is to give the Coronado community hope when financial situations are difficult.
“Champion’s Closet was created three years ago to help Coronado students who needed clothes and food,” Del Campo said.
Champion’s Closet is meant to help not only Coronado students, but also everyone in the community.
“Champion’s Closet is meant to help our Coronado students and families the most,” Del Campo said. “Anyone can go to the closet without being questioned.”
Donations help keep the closet running through donated clothing, backpacks, school supplies, shoes, laundry soap, and non-perishable food items. The school is currently hosting a clothing and food drive to replenish the closet.
“Anyone can donate clothes during school hours by dropping them off in the front office,” Del Campo said.
Champion’s Closet allows students to volunteer for community service through donations or help organize the closet.
“Any student can help in Champion’s Closet to earn community service hours,” Del Campo said. “Students can donate items or help organize the closet after school or during an off period.”
Champion’s Closet is in E building near Mrs. Mendoza’s office in E5,.
“The closet is open every Thursday during lunch and is open upon request,” Del Campo said. “Students can visit after school if they let the front office know.”
